When you are homebound due to age or disability, it might be difficult to leave the house at times. Many people in this situation find themselves getting stuck in the house 24/7 and rarely interacting with anyone.
But there are ways you can get out and still feel productive and social. If you’re homebound, here are a few tips that can help you find ways to stay active:
- Take care of household chores. Cleaning is a great way to feel productive while avoiding boredom.
- Exercise. Even if it’s just walking around the block once or twice a day, getting some fresh air, and moving around will help keep your mind and body healthy.
- Treat yourself at least once a week by going out for lunch with friends or family members who live nearby (or even across town).
- Ask for help. Don’t wait until your boredom has reached its peak before turning to friends or family members for help. They may not realize how much you need their company, so don’t be afraid to let them know.
